Privacy Notice

Last updated: 25 June 2026

Yardnote is a trading name of Fluxter Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13135508), with its registered office at 92 Station Lane, Hornchurch, Essex RM12 6LX. In this notice, “we”, “us” and “Yardnote” mean Fluxter Limited. We are the data controller for the personal data described below.

This notice explains what personal data we collect, why, the lawful basis we rely on, and your rights under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who this notice covers

It applies to visitors to this website, users of the Yardnote service, and people we contact as part of our business research and outreach.

Business research and outreach

We build software to help permitted UK waste-receiving sites comply with the Defra Digital Waste Tracking (DWTS) mandate that becomes statutory on 1 October 2026. As part of this, we contact independent scrap-metal and vehicle-dismantling operators to understand how they are preparing for the deadline.

We obtain business contact details (such as a company email address and, where published, a contact name) from publicly available sources, including company websites and the Companies House register. We only contact UK limited companies (corporate subscribers), not individuals or sole traders.

Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Our legitimate interest is to research how operators in a regulated sector are preparing for a known statutory obligation, in order to build and improve software that helps them comply. We have assessed that this is proportionate and does not override your rights — in particular because the contact is business-to-business, low-volume, on a topic directly relevant to your business, and easy to opt out of.

You can opt out at any time — reply “no” to any email, or email us at [email protected]. We will stop contacting you immediately and add your details to a suppression list so we do not contact you again.

Website visitors

When you visit this website, our hosting provider may process limited technical data (such as your IP address and browser type) in server logs to keep the site secure and running. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Service users

If you use the Yardnote service, we process the account and waste-tracking data you provide in order to deliver the service to you. Our lawful basis is performance of a contract.

Who we share data with

We use trusted service providers (processors) to operate, including an email-sending platform for our outreach. Some providers may be based outside the UK; where that is the case, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or equivalent contractual clauses). We do not sell your personal data.

How long we keep it

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, after which we delete it. Records of opt-outs are kept indefinitely so that we can continue to honour your request not to be contacted.

Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability where applicable. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you have the right to object at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

We may update this notice from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
